Former WWE United States Champion Ilja Dragunov is now a free agent following his contract with the company expiring, and a new report shed some light on where he could end up wrestling next.The biggest speculation for Dragunov right now is if he could wind up in AEW. The company will host its biggest event of the year, AEW All In: London from Wembley Stadium on August 30. According to Fightful Select, industry sources expect Dragunov to end up in AEW, but on more so of a hunch, rather than firm knowledge.The outlet is also working to confirm Dragunov's visa status following his WWE departure. Fightful spoke with sources in the independent scene in Europe, including Dragunov's former promotion, Westside Xtreme Wrestling, or wXw, the major promotion in Germany where Dragunov battled GUNTHER numerous times throughout 2017 and 2018. Dragunov's WWE departure came as a surprise to those within wXw. He had been in attendance for an event at his home promotion back in May, a month after his final appearance on WWE TV.Another wXw source told Fightful that they would be surprised to see him back on the UK independent scene. A promoter predicted Dragunov could return to PROGRESS. Another source told the outlet they'd also be surprised if he had a bookable rate "for most promotions on the continent." Details of Dragunov's previous WWE deal were not available, but it was reported the sides couldn't come to an agreement on financial terms ahead of his departure.Dragunov's last match in WWE was the episode of "WWE SmackDown" ahead of WrestleMania 42, where he competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, won by Royce Keys. His last singles match came on March 30 in a loss to Carmelo Hayes.
