As the old saying goes, "One man's trash is another man's treasure," and for former WWE star Nikki Cross (now wrestling as Nikki Storm), she felt her missed toss with the 24/7 Championship to the trash can was an opening for someone else to take home the gold. However, her missed toss was the last time the title would ever be featured on WWE programming. Storm recalls that moment of being the last champion to hold the championship, and how she reacted during that live segment back in 2022."Yeah, I missed it," the former champion said during her interview on "Insight with Chris Van Vliet." "So, we did a take right before it. And it was perfect. Nailed it. Landed on the inside the trash can...Yes, a rehearsal, but they also had taped it. So, I was like, 'Oh, let's use this one.' But...for whatever, there was a reason...I think there was an audio [issue]...That meant we couldn't use that tape. So, we had to go live...I was so focused...that I just threw it. I just threw it and it missed the trash can...And I was like, I did it. I just kept going with it. Because in those scenarios, there is nothing you can do...I know I've missed this. [But] whatever you do, do not break character, you know, the cardinal sin."The 24/7 Championship was first introduced to the WWE Universe by Hall of Famer and former talent Mick Foley on the May 20, 2019, edition of "WWE Raw." As the title implies, anyone from any brand had the opportunity to create an impromptu match to win the title. All that was needed was for a referee to be there to count the victory. Cross was a former 11-time victor to the title. The championship was officially retired after Cross' on-screen dismissal of it on November 9, 2022.If you use any of the quotes in this article, please credit "Insight with Chris Van Vliet" with a h/t to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription.
