Collin Sexton knows what has defined his NBA career so far, but as he begins a new chapter with the Los Angeles Lakers, he wants to be known for much more than putting the ball in the basket.The Lakers signed the 27-year-old guard to a two-year deal worth approximately $19 million in free agency, with Sexton expected to provide depth behind Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves in the backcourt.During his first media availability with the team, Sexton revealed he has been studying two former Lakers guards who built their reputations through relentless defense and effort: Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley.I would say so. But just watching him and his competitive nature, thats my guy, so I was like you know what? How did he impact winning when he was here? And I feel like those two guys, Ive been able to really lock in on because I feel like I can bring that to this team.While Sexton has established himself as an efficient scorer over eight NBA seasons, he has yet to earn the defensive reputation that Smart and Bradley built throughout their careers.
