AEW Revolution took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The AEW Womens World Title was a major focus on a 13-match card. The kickoff show started things with a battle royale before the main card. Thekla shocked the AEW fan base when she became the AEW Womens World Champion. At Revolution, Kris Statlander had a chance to get her championship back. Statlander and Theklas match was not a typical contest. Tony Khan booked a two out of three fans match for the two in LA. Thekla won the first fall in rather quick fashion, considering the length of time that pinfalls take during AEW pay-per-views. The second fall started with Kris Statlander really stepping things up. At that point, it was up to Kris Statlander to stay in this match. Then Kris was able to get a pinfall after nailing a tombstone piledriver. After that, Thekla removed the referees belt after he was taken down, so she could use it as a weapon.
