Speaking on the latest episode of DEMOPOD with host Ryan Mar, the longtime tag team opened up about the unexpected call that confirmed their induction into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame class. According to Smash, the moment caught them completely off guard because they believed the meeting was simply about merchandise discussions with WWE. Ax explained that the original purpose of the Zoom call had nothing to do with the Hall of Fame announcement. The duo also revealed that WWE originally had a different plan for announcing the news earlier this year, but weather conditions prevented it from happening. Smash said the company wanted to make the announcement during an appearance tied to an event in Montreal, but travel issues forced them to cancel. Both Ax and Smash also credited fan support as a major reason the induction finally happened after years of questions about when it would take place. Ax explained that fans regularly brought up the Hall of Fame during appearances and conventions. Smash added that their busy convention schedule over the past several years helped keep the teams legacy visible.
