Swerve Strickland took a shot at John Cenas rap career and fans wasted no time firing back in a big way. During a recent appearance on the Kings of the Ring Podcast, the AEW star reflected on wrestlers who crossed into hip-hop and brought up Cenas 2005 album You Cant See Me. While Strickland acknowledged that Cena had some skill on the mic, he suggested the former WWE Champion didnt fully understand what he had: It felt like a persona It was a skill he had but he didnt understand what the skill was. Actor and rapper OShea Jackson Jr. responded on Twitter and explained why Cenas rap persona resonated with audiences at the time. According to him, the reason Cenas music worked was that it felt authentic rather than forced. Another fan pointed directly to Cenas commercial success and reputation within the culture, arguing that his track record speaks louder than Stricklands criticism. Some responses kept things simple by comparing the two performers directly and they werent exactly siding with Swerve: John a better rapper than swerve is the funny part lol. Another critic went further and suggested Stricklands comments came from jealousy rather than honest criticism. Bottom line Swerves take on John Cenas rap career clearly struck a nerve, especially with fans who grew up during the Doctor of Thuganomics era. Do you think Swerve Strickland can out rap John Cena?
