The summer signing struck a winner for the Bees for the second successive game to earn all three points shortly after Bruno Guimaraes had brought the hosts level from the penalty spot.Brentford had come from behind to lead in the first half thanks to goals from a Vitaly Janelt header and Igor Thiago penalty after Sven Botman had given the Magpies the lead. The victory lifts Keith Andrews side into seventh in the Premier League as European qualification remains a real possibility, with Newcastle in danger of losing ground in that particular race as they remain 12th.Bees come from behind to lead at breakBrentford were left aggrieved inside the opening two minutes when a strong penalty appeal was turned down. Keane Lewis-Potter raced onto a flick-on and went to ground under pressure from Kieran Trippier, but neither the referee nor VAR deemed the contact enough to award a spot-kick.The visitors started sharply and caused Newcastle problems early, forcing the hosts onto the back foot with direct running and quick switches of play. Newcastle gradually steadied, though Brentford continued to look dangerous in transition.Newcastle took the lead on 24 minutes from a corner. After the first delivery was cleared, Guimaraes swung the ball back into the danger area and Botman climbed above his marker to head down and into the net.Brentford responded well and should have been level soon after, only for Vitaly Janelt to clear Yoane Wissas close-range effort off the line during a frantic goalmouth scramble. The equaliser arrived on 37 minutes and it was deserved. Dango Ouattara drove down the left and delivered an outstanding early cross, which Janelt met with a firm header past Nick Pope.Brentford finished the half on the front foot, winning free-kicks in advanced areas and forcing Newcastle into hurried defending, with the game finely balanced at 11 heading towards the interval. But it got even better for the Bees before half-time when they presented with a golden chance to go ahead from the penalty spot when a Mathias Jensen shot struck the arm of Jacob Murphy.Up stepped star striker Thiago, who coolly stroked the spot-kick into the left-hand corner after sending Pope the wrong way for his 17th Premier League goal of the season.Newcastle had their own penalty appeal waved away early in the second half when a Trippier cross deflected off Rico Henrys midriff before Harvey Barnes couldnt get a free header on target after some nice work from substitute Anthony Elanga on the right-hand side.Malick Thiaw forced a brilliant save from Caoimhin Kelleher as he drove forward let fly from distance for a shot which looked to be heading for the top corner but the Brentford stopper tipped it away.Botman then got another chance from a header to grab his second but this time he couldnt keep it on target.A failed Brentford corner allowed Newcastle to break swiftly upfield, with the ball eventually finding Elanga on the left-hand side whose ball across could not be reached, with a VAR check eventually deeming that Guimaraes was brought down by Michael Kayode as he reached for the ball and a penalty was given. The returning skipper was the man to take it and he made no mistake to bring the game level with a confident penalty.Just when it looked like the Magpies were going to go on and win the game, Ouattara struck a dagger through the hosts hearts when he raced onto Jensens ball over the top and fired past Pope with less than five minutes to play in what proved to be the winner on Tyneside.Thiaw was unable to turn a late effort in for the hosts before Outtara was denied his second by Pope but it did not stop Brentford claiming their fourth win from five Premier League games on the road.
