The 2026 Royal Rumble opened the door for a lot of possibilities, but Roman Reigns winning the Mens Royal Rumble match set up a pretty obvious WrestleMania main event match.
WrestleMania 42 has been getting heavy promotion, and as most would expect, WWE is already lining up major matches behind the scenes. Dave Meltzer reported on the Daily Update on F4WOnline that right now, the plan for WrestleMania is Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk.
This match will see CM Punk and Roman Reigns collide in a marquee match once again at WrestleMania. They threw down last year in one of the main events, but Seth Rollins was in the mix to make it a triple threat match.
WWE also has some interesting plans for the SmackDown main event title match. This should be a fun build to the showcase of the immortals.
Only time will tell who has their hand raised at WrestleMania 42. This match with CM Punk and Roman Reigns will give Punk another WrestleMania main event match, this time a singles contest. That is certainly something he worked hard for, no matter how long it took him to get there.
