Brock Lesnar is back in WWEs creative plans, and his road to WrestleMania 42 may finally lead to a long-awaited dream match against GUNTHER.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar is expected to appear at the 2026 Royal Rumble premium live event later this month. Roman Reigns is also slated to be involved, but all eyes are on Lesnars return and what it could mean for Aprils WrestleMania in Las Vegas.
WWE is now once again considering booking Lesnar vs. GUNTHER for The Show of Showsa match the company has previously attempted to put together on two separate occasions. Both times, plans were dropped for different reasons. The first time, WWE felt GUNTHER hadnt fully developed into a main event-level star. The second time, the company was forced to shift course after Lesnar was pulled from programming in connection with the Janel Grant lawsuit.
With those hurdles now behind them, WWE sees the current landscape as the perfect opportunity. Lesnar returned to the ring at WrestlePalooza in September 2025, defeating John Cena in a high-profile match following his SummerSlam 2025 appearance. His comeback was greenlit by TKO, and WWE has since been quietly positioning him for a major WrestleMania program.
Meanwhile, GUNTHER is hotter than ever. He recently made Cena tap out in his retirement match at Saturday Nights Main Eventcementing his dominance and elevating his status to that of a true top-tier threat. Internally, there is strong belief that GUNTHER is finally at the level needed to stand opposite Lesnar on WWEs biggest stage.
Both Lesnar and GUNTHER are reportedly slated to be part of the 2026 Mens Royal Rumble Match, and a single staredown between them could be all WWE needs to launch this long-simmering feud into full motion.
If plans stay intact, WrestleMania 42 could finally deliver the heavyweight collision fans have been waiting years to see.
