Carlos Alcaraz has added another prestigious accolade to a glittering season.

The six-time Major winner earned Spain's top male athlete of 2025 in Marca's annual "Los 100 del Deporte" awards.

The El Palmar native earned the honor via public vote, receiving 44.37% and finishing ahead of MotoGP icon Marc Marquez, who claimed his ninth world champion title on Ducati, the first in years.

Marquez performed superbly, but Alcaraz went even further and embraced his career-best season. The recognition reflects an exceptional year in which he established himself as the leading figure in Spanish sport.

The 22-year-old claimed two Major trophies in 2025. He defended the Roland Garros crown in that thrilling final over Jannik Sinner after denying three match points. He also claimed his second US Open title.

Thus, the Spaniard became the youngest player with multiple Major titles on all three surfaces. Carlos enjoyed his career-best run between April and October, having reached nine straight finals and lifting seven trophies.

He did enough to keep Jannik Sinner behind and secure his second year-end no. 1 honor at such a young age. Alcaraz is also the third-youngest player with 50 weeks as world no. 1, following Lleyton Hewitt and Jim Courier on the exclusive list.

Beyond trophies, Carlos also earned the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award. It underlined the balance between competitive excellence and conduct that has made him one of the sport's most admired figures worldwide.

With public backing and on-court achievements aligning, Alcaraz's rise places him at the center of Spanish sporting excellence heading into 2026. World no. 1 is preparing for a strong run at the Australian Open.

If he goes all the way and lifts a trophy, Carlos will become the youngest owner of a CareerGrand Slam, the ultimate tennis honor.
