The LIV Golf Tour, a golf circuit funded by Saudi Arabia, will feature 57 players starting in February 2026, including 13 teams and five wild card entrants, the organization announced Tuesday. Basque golfer Jon Rahm has been the undisputed champion of the Saudi Super League for the past two years.

The organization announced today improvements to the regular season, enhancing qualification opportunities by adding a third qualifying spot in the third edition of LIV Golf Promotions, to be held from January 8-11, 2026, at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida, USA.

More than 80 players from 24 countries have already confirmed their participation in the competition for these spots.

The top three finishers in LIV Golf Promotions will enter the regular circuit, joining Zimbabwean Scott Vincent and Japanese Yosuke Asaji, who secured their places by winning the 2025 International Series, which concluded last month in Riyadh.

The promotional tournament will consist of four 18-hole rounds, at the end of which the top three finishers will earn a spot on the LIV Golf Tour, along with a prize of $200,000 for the winner, $150,000 for second place, and $100,000 for third.

Today, the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) considered that the LIV circuit has made "progress," but stated that it has not yet made a decision on its request for its tournaments to be reflected in the world rankings.

The OWGR board of directors released a statement on Tuesday regarding the new request submitted by LIV Golf on June 30th to align its status with that of the other major tours, the PGA Tour and the European DP World Tour.

OWGR's decision to postpone its ruling to further examine the request is largely a response to the new step taken by LIV Golf on November 4th, when it announced that its tournaments, starting in the 2026 season, would be four-round (72 holes), like those of the other tours, instead of three (54 holes). This change would mean abandoning one of the defining characteristics of the tour since its inception in 2022.
