Nick Kyrgios was full of praise for Aryna Sabalenka's display in their Battle of the Sexes and indicated that he would love to see a rematch in the near future.
In a highly-anticipated Dubai match, the seven-time ATP champion came out on top against the top-ranked WTA player and claimed a 6-3 6-3 win at the Coca-Cola Arena.
The match was played under special rules and format as Sabalenka's court was 9 percent smaller and there were no second serves.
Although Kyrgios is one of the best servers in the world, he felt the impact of Sabalenka's court being reduced and lost his serve a total of three times. However, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist still won routinely in two sets after registering a total of six breaks.
It was a really tough match. Shes a hell of a competitor and such a great champion. Shes a multiple Grand Slam champion. I didnt really know what to expect. As I said before this event, whatever role I was to play, it was just a great opportunity to go out here. She broke my serve numerous times. I had to strap in honestly. She was putting the pressure on. She was hitting some amazing shots," the Australian said.
Kyrgios: I'd love to play Sabalenka again
For weeks, Sabalenka sounded confident about her chances and insisted that she would at least put up a solid fight. The four-time Grand Slam champion may not have won, but she wasn't light work on the court either.
"I would love to play her again and showcase her talent and also what I have left in the tank," the 2022 Wimbledon finalist added.
Meanwhile, Sabalenka also indicated that she was very open to playing Kyrgios again, since she stated that she would "know the tactic" for the next time.
It remains to be seen if another Sabalenka and Kyrgios match will happen.
