Ben Shelton has been the protagonist of a fairly positive season and can be confident in the future.

The American ace has gained more consistency than in past seasons and has shown it especially in Grand Slam tournaments, in which only two champions like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have interrupted his run.

In particular, the Italian star prevented him from advancing to the Australian Open (where he reached the semifinals) and the Wimbledon Championships (quarterfinals), while the 22-year-old Spaniard thwarted his excellent performance in the round of 16 of Roland Garros.

The 23-year-old American also won his first Masters 1000 in Toronto during the summer and made his entry into the Top 5 of the ATP rankings for the first time in his career, but an unfortunate shoulder injury affected him in the latter part of 2025. He had to retire during his match against French veteran Adrian Mannarino at the US Open and left the court in tears, having to say goodbye to his home fans and staying away from the professional tour for several weeks.

Despite that break, Ben had no problem qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin for the first time in his young career. The fast surface of the Inalpi Arena should have enhanced his game, instead his run ended already in the round robin with three losses and zero wins.

During the latest edition of his podcast, former ATP ace Andy Roddick said that he spoke to Shelton's father recently: I talked to Bryan Shelton, Bens Dad a couple of weeks ago, just going through I dont know if my opinions are right or wrong but just going through his game.

I told him that I was heartbroken for Ben at the US Open because the thing that you want as a pro tennis player is to get to the point where you build and build and build and then you are pretty close to positive about what your output is going to be on a given day. Ben had that, he had gotten to that point, and then injury interrupted it. I was really excited about his prospects at the US Open before that injury.
