Andy Roddick says it is "unbelievably impressive" that Novak Djokovic looked like "a part-time player" this year but was still clearly the third-best in the game.
This past season, the Serb appeared in just 13 tournaments. He posted a 39-11 record - won the ATP 250 tournaments in Geneva and Athens - and also made the semifinal in all four Grand Slam.
When it comes to Djokovic's ranking, he finished the year as the world No. 4 with 330 fewer points than third-ranked Alexander Zverev. However, it should be noted that the 38-year-old's main focus were Grand Slams this year and that he skipped a couple of Masters tournaments, as well as the ATP Finals.

Zverev may be ranked ahead of the Serb , but there is no doubt that the record 24-time Grand Slam champion was more consistent this year, especially on the biggest stage.
Roddick: Djokovic was a part-time player in 2025 who was still the third-best player in the world
"At this stage of the last four, it feels like he can turn on and off being a top-three or four player in the world. Thats Novak Djokovic, right? How do we judge this year against his career? Any year where he doesnt win a Major is probably disappointing for him. And this year was insane to watch. He was basically a part-time tennis player who was still the third-best player in the world. Its a joke. Its unbelievably impressive," Roddick said on his podcast.

Over the past two years, Djokovic has been very open about what's important to him at this stage of his career. The former world No. 1 is mainly focused on Grand Slams, the Olympics, and representing his country in the Davis Cup.
In one of his recent interviews, the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medalist revealed that he would like to stay shape in the next few years and possibly choose the Los Angeles Olympics as his retirement spot.
