Mirra Andreeva and Alexandra Eala are set to play an exhibition match at the Macau Tennis Masters on Sunday.

The Russian, ranked at No. 9 in the world, and the rising Filipina star have no previous meetings.

After getting some action in Macau just before the start of the new season, Andreeva will fly to Australia. The two-time WTA 1000 champion is scheduled to play at the Brisbane International and the Adelaide International before the Australian Open.

On the other side, Eala will fly to New Zealand since she opted to start 2026 in Auckland. After Auckland, the 2025 Eastbourne runner-up will go to Australia and also compete in Adelaide.

Since Andreeva, 18, and the 20-year-old Filipina are some of the most promising and talented players in the game, the Macau organizers definitely selected a very intriguing matchup for their women's match at this year's event.

Andreeva received a special recognition in Russia, Eala achieved a special feat

Recently, Andreeva - who was still 17 when she won the WTA 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Dubai earlier this year - was named the Russian tennis player of the year.

"Thank you very much for choosing me as Tennis Player of the Year. It's a pleasure to receive this award, because a lot of hard work has gone into it. This prize is a huge bonus for me. I would have loved to be there in person, but a very important person will receive the award on my behalf," the 18-year-old said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Eala also had a special month since she won the 2025 Southeast Asian Games. This marked a Filipina woman winning the event for the first time in 26 years.
