Jerry The King Lawler hasnt ruled out one more matchbut longtime friend and fellow Hall of Famer Jim Ross doesnt think its happening.
Speaking on Grilling JR, Jim Ross talked about Lawlers health after spending time with him over the weekend at a wrestling event in Pittsburgh. While Lawler recently told News 5 Memphis that he hasnt completely shut the door on stepping into the ring again, Ross made it clear he has serious reservations because of Lawlers current health issues.
Ross was empathetic about Lawlers passion for the business, noting how deeply ingrained wrestling is in Lawlers life after more than 50 years in the industry. Even then, he really doesnt see Lawler having a match again.
This comes after Lawler stated that he hasnt ruled out one more match, despite still recovering from a serious stroke suffered in September. While his strength is slowly returning and hes traveling for fan signings, his painting hobby has been put on hold due to colorblindness caused by the stroke.
On top of that, Fightful Select reported that there is zero percent chance WWE would clear Lawler for an in-ring returnmeaning if it happens, it would have to be in an independent promotion.
Jim Ross has the thoughts of many fansgrateful for Lawlers legacy and hopeful for his health. While the idea of one last match may be tempting for The King, those who know him best are prioritizing his well-being over nostalgia.
Should Jerry Lawler go for one more match, or is it time to hang up the crown for good? Let us know what you think.
