Serena Williams' former coach Patrick Mouratoglou says Victoria Mboko has "the whole package' and has declared the 19-year-old "the future of tennis."

Mboko, who celebrated her 19th birthday in August, won the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal as a wildcard and also finished the year ranked at a career-high ranking of No. 18.

But before Mboko pulled off a sensational Montreal run, she started the 2025 season competing at the ITF tournaments and won five titles there in the opening three months of the year.

After winning five ITF titles and becoming a WTA champion in Montreal, the Canadian had a rough period and lost four consecutive matches. However, she still finished her breakout season on a high after winning a WTA 250 tournament in Hong Kong.

Now, Mouratoglou, who coached Williams for a decade, believes that Mboko is primed for even greater things.

Mouratoglou: Mboko killed it this year... She is definitely the future of tennis

I will start with Victoria Mboko. Shes Canadian, shes played an incredible season. She was out of the top 100. She killed it this year. She won a Masters 1000. She had some downs after that, because suddenly the pressure became too high. She arrived like a bomb in the tennis world and the WTA world. The quality of her game, her physical assets, her personality. I mean, she has the whole package, and shes definitely the future of tennis. Im super happy to see her coming up so fast," Mouratoglou explained.

Going into the US Open, Mboko didn't hide that she was targeting to become a Grand Slam champion at Flushing Meadows and she sounded very confident in her chances. But it didn't happen after the Canadian lost to Barbora Krejcikova in the first round.

When Mboko kicks off her Australian Open campaign in January, she will be making her debut at Melbourne Park.
