Greg Rusedski describes Nick Kyrgios as "Marmite" and reveals he personally likes what the Australian brings to the table, but also warns the 30-year-old that he may have some regrets in 20 years from now.

Wherever Kyrgios goes, attention follows - not only because of tennis, but also because he has never shied away from revealing his true feelings and opinions about certain things.

Needless to say, Kyrgios has faced massive criticism and backlash for some of his actions and words throughout his career. But while the Australian tennis player has a group of critics, it is also not a secret that he has a big fanbase and that his matches never fail to sell tickets.

On the court, Kyrgios has won seven ATP titles - finished as runner-up at 2022 Wimbledon - and his career-high ranking saw him sit at No. 13 in the world. On paper, the 30-year-old has achieved some pretty solid things in his career. But those accomplishments are far from the expectations that were placed on him when he first started his career.

On his newly-launched podcast, Rusedski said that the Australian's talent was God-gifted and suggested that he probably could have achieved a lot more if he was always fully committed to his career.

Rusedski: What if a 52-year-old Kyrgios looks back on his career and says, 'What if?'

The other thing is that Kyrgios is scathing about other people but he doesnt like it when it goes the opposite way. He talks about these things and if you are going to do that to other people then you have got to expect it to come back. Maybe you have a big following but then you have got to think that is the way that life goes," Rusedski said on the Off Court with Greg podcast.

If you put yourself in the spotlight as a tennis player or a commentator, you are going to have people who like you. He is Marmite, I have described him. You either love him or hate him. I have always been super positive because I think he is good for the game. But when he hangs them all up, will he look back when he is my age at 52 and say, 'What if?'"

Kyrgios played only one tournament across the 2023 and 2024 seasons due to knee and wrist injuries. The Australian returned to action this year but was limited to just four tournaments.

Kyrgios appeared to contemplate retirement earlier this year, but he is set to be back in 2026 by playing at the Brisbane International.
