John Cenas emotional farewell may have left fans teary-eyed but Vince Russo just left no doubt about how he feels: the entire run was an absolute disaster.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Russo didnt just focus on Cena tapping out to GUNTHER he attacked the entire picture, from business trends to creative decisions, claiming the farewell run failed on every level.
Russo then pointed to WWEs streaming performance, suggesting the companys momentum has already cooled off on Netflix.
But the real meat of Russos rant was Cena himself. He questioned how anyone could look at the full retirement tour from start to finish and feel it did justice to one of WWEs biggest stars. He especially wondered how Triple H did not get fired after booking Cenas tour so badly.
Russo argued that Cena never truly had a really memorable moment during the run, instead being booked to lose repeatedly or rely on outside interference.
He also went after WWE for John Cenas 17th World Title win during the run, noting it didnt even feel like Cenas moment since Travis Scott helped him win in the first place.
Russo ended it by challenging anyone to point out a single defining highlight from the entire farewell tour.
This comes after Triple H defended Cena losing to GUNTHER, saying it was about tradition, doing whats right for the business, and Cena leaving WWE better than he found it. Russo clearly isnt buying that explanation and hes putting the blame squarely on bad creative.
Love him or hate him, Vince Russos words are now part of the conversation around Cenas retirement, and hes not backing down.
