Serena Williams' former coach Rennae Stubbs is a big fan of the WTA's groundbreaking deal with Mercedes-Benz and seeing Coco Gauff become a global ambassador for the luxurious German car maker.

A week ago, the WTA and Mercedes-Benz announced a 10-year partnership, which includes the German car maker investing $50 million per year. Shortly after the news dropped, the reigning French Open champion was confirmed as the brand's newest ambassador.

"Power. Precision. Play without limits. Were proud to welcome world-class tennis player Coco Gauff to the Mercedes-Benz family as a new global brand ambassador," Mercedes-Benz said in a statement.

Stubbs reacts to the Gauff and Mercedes-Benz deal

Caitlin Thompson, who is the co-host of Stubbs' tennis podcast, was thrilled about the deal.

"Massive hats off and congratulations to the WTA Tour because that is a huge turn of events and Coco has been tapped as the face of this, which you cannot get a better brand ambassador, probably can't really get a better human and obviously somebody who really transcends the sport to be your brand ambassador," Thompson said on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast.

Stubbs, who won four Grand Slams in women's doubles and two more in mixed doubles, also had a delightful reaction.

"So Coco. I feel like a G-Wagon is coming up into her driveway real soon. For sure," the Australian tennis legend said.

Just before the Mercedes deal was announced, Gauff landed on top of Sportico's list of the highest-paid female athletes for 2025. Per Sportico, the 21-year-old earned $8 million in tournament prize money this year, and an additional $23 million through her sponsorship deals.

"With all my brands, I try to make sure it's something that I do and use. I've had opportunities that I've turned down because I just knew it wasn't authentic to me," Gauff said.
