Hideki Matsuyama is considered by many to be one of the greatest prospects in the world of golf, but this season has not been so successful for him. The Japanese golfer had a few bright moments, but his performances at major tournaments were not good enough and did not awaken the optimism that Matsuyama needed.
However, winning the Hero World Challenge after the play-offs was a shining moment for the experienced golfer who has serious ambitions for the coming season.
Many who analyze the game of the experienced Japanese, including Gary Williams, point out what is holding this golfer back. Williams praises his success in numerous tournaments, but adds that Matsuyama lacks the consistency.
Very streaky, but when the streak is right and he is in flow, he can be as good as anybody. I would say that over the last decade, Hideki Matsuyamas been one of the six to eight to 10 best players in the world, as evidenced by his resume. 11 wins on the PGA Tour, eight wins on the Japan Tour, he said.

If you start looking at the wins specifically, and yeah, I think theres different weight to wins, winning is the most important thing wherever it might be, but this guy has won two World Golf Championships, hes won the Memorial, hes won the Genesis at Riviera. He won a playoff event, hes won The Sentry."- he said.

This is precisely the quality of great golfers; to excel from tournament to tournament, and to record good results even when they don't have such a great day.
It is obvious that the Japanese golfer needs to work on many aspects of his game, especially his consistency, but the mindset he possesses can help him win many more trophies next year. The potential for such successes certainly exists.
