Nick Kyrgios is standing firm on his Jannik Sinner doping case stance and still believes that the world No. 2 bears responsibility for what happened, even if his version of the story was fully true.

After Sinner twice tested positive for a clostebol, the ITIA investigated the case in silence and later concluded that the Italian didn't knowingly or intentionally take a banned substance. The official explanation was that physio Giacomo Naldi applied an over-the-counter spray while massaging the 24-year-old, and that's how a prohibited substance entered the former world No. 1's body.

The moment Sinner's doping case came to light, Kyrgios became one of the most outspoken players on the matter, calling for a ban and accusing the anti-doping authorities of treating the Italian's case differently. After the WADA lodged an appeal into the ITIA's ruling and the Italian received a three-month ban, Kyrgios celebrated.

Last month, Piers Morgan hosted Novak Djokovic for a conversation and asked the Serb for his thoughts on the Sinner doping case.

That cloud will follow him as the cloud of COVID will follow me for the rest of his or my career in this," Djokovic said last month.

Kyrgios: The way Sinner's case was handled wasn't a good look for the sport

This week, Kyrgios was also a guest on Morgan's show and the British host asked him about Djokovic's comments on Sinner.

You always see my stance on it and I dont think like talking about it now is I think that the key thing Novak said, was that whether it was there or whether it wasnt there, whether it was meant to be there or not, he's still responsible. And I think just the way the case was handled as a whole was very it wasnt a good look for the sport. I mean, he was our No. 1 tennis player in the world," Kyrgios said.

During the same conversation, Kyrgios praised Sinner for making a strong run return after a three-month absence and tipped the 24-year-old Italian to finish as "one of the greatest."
