After the end of another tennis season, opinions are mixed, and most tennis players say they feel exhausted after another difficult season. Casper Ruud is certainly a name we paid attention to this year and most expected that the Norwegian tennis player could be a dominant figure this year.
However, Ruud is far from satisfied as he finished the season in 16th place, struggling to be as brilliant as he was in 2022, when he was world No.2.
One of the highlights was his victory at the Madrid Open in April this year, and in an interview with Tennis Weekly, the Norwegian tennis player pointed out that he is still not completely satisfied with this season. However, such moments can serve as a powerful motivational tool and an opportunity to improve in the next season.

You know, it wasnt what I hoped for.
By that I mean that when youve been top 10, or when youve ended the year top 10, or specifically top 8, you play in Turin. You want to aim for that every year coming up.
I didnt get there this year. I was there as an alternate, so I was in Turin, but I didnt get to play, and that was a little bit of a bummer."- he said.
Ruud reflects on positive moments
Ruud does not want to view the situation negatively, stressing that he won two tournaments this year and that he has some positive moments to remember. The 26-year-old had hoped to repeat the 2022 season, but he is aware that a tennis player's career is full of ups and downs and that sometimes it is difficult to be dominant month after month.

But that, you know, keeps the motivation growing for next season to try to get back there. But all in all, I won two tournaments this year and my biggest title ever in Madrid, so I cant be too disappointed.
When I had my kind of breakthrough season in 2022, I realised that, of course, I wish it could be like this every year, but I will have years where it will go a bit down and maybe up again and down again."- he concluded.
It seems that most tennis players are not particularly satisfied with this season, but they will already use the off-season to carefully analyze everything that happened and set goals for the next season.
