2025 was an important year for Carlos Alcaraz's career from several points of view, because the Spanish ace finally found a solution to the weakness that had conditioned him in previous seasons. The world number 1 had always had extraordinary peaks that had allowed him to achieve memorable successes, but continuity had always been his main flaw and it is for this reason that he had been overtaken by Jannik Sinner at the top of the ATP ranking.
The 22-year-old from Murcia did not start 2025 well and confessed to having a crisis during the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami, but the beginning of spring - with tournaments on his beloved red clay - helped Carlitos who returned to express his best tennis.
He has reached at least the final in all the tournaments he has participated in and has collected eight trophies, disappointing expectations only at the Paris Masters 1000 (where he was eliminated by Cameron Norrie in the second round unleashing one of the worst performances of his career).
Alcaraz has carved out a legendary career
Alcaraz needed to get at least three wins at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin and he achieved this goal, overcoming his group undefeated and reaching the final for the first time in his career. Although the indoor conditions do not enhance his game, the six-time Grand Slam champion also put Jannik Sinner in serious trouble in the last act and had several chances before giving in in two very balanced sets. The Spanish star also suffered a leg injury during that final and had to miss the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna.
Through a post on his official X profile, legendary coach Rick Macci praised Carlos once again: When you look at what he has done so far, the Spanish Magician is the best player by far at his age ever to hold a stick. But in life, it is not how you start or where you start; it is where you finish. Barring injury, Carlos will be hanging out with the big three in numbers and maybe a guy from Italy.
