Facing Jannik Sinner is undoubtedly one of the toughest challenges that exist on the men's tour right now, especially on indoor hard courts. In the last two years, the Italian ace has shown an uncommon consistency improving in all aspects, to become the new leader of men's tennis together with his huge rival Carlos Alcaraz.
These two players are monopolizing the tour right now and no opponent seems able to come close to their level in the near future. The feeling is that the Italian and the Spaniard will continue to make a difference at the highest level for much longer to come, as evidenced by the gap they have created compared to all their rivals in the ATP rankings.
Although Carlitos ended the 2025 season at the top of the ATP rankings, it should be noted that Jannik had a simply amazing last part of the year, reducing the gap that separates him from the Spanish ace to just 550 points (although he had to miss three months due to the ban he was given by WADA between February and May).

Griekspooron facing Sinner
The world No.2 lifted the trophy at the Beijing ATP 500, Vienna ATP 500, Paris Masters 1000 and the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, suffering only one loss after the US Open. The reference is to the match against Tallon Griekspoor at the Shanghai Masters 1000, with Sinner having to retire during the third set due to cramps.
In a recent interview with 'Tennis Bolshoi', the Dutch player explained what tactics he uses when facing the former world number 1: "I have a very clear idea of what I have to do when I play against him, but it's not easy to execute that strategy for two or three hours straight. I also have to hope that he has a not particularly brilliant day, something that doesn't happen often. I don't think he has any weaknesses, maybe he feels less comfortable near the net, but it's not such a relevant factor. He became dominant in all respects."
