Daniil Medvedev certainly cannot be satisfied with the level he has expressed for most of this season, if we consider that he has stayed away from the top players, achieving results much lower than expected, especially in Grand Slam tournaments.
The former world No.1 realized that something had to change after the shocking elimination against Benjamin Bonzi at the US Open, the very tournament that had crowned him in 2021. The Russian ace behaved really badly during that match and a few days later announced the end of his long collaboration with Gilles Cervara.
Since signing his new team, the champion from Moscow has had a shake-up and his performances in the latter part of the year have been more convincing than before. The winner of the 2021 US Open seemed more comfortable on the tennis court and finally returned to win an ATP title more than two and a half years after the last time (he lifted the trophy in Almaty).

At one point, Daniil even believed he could qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin and started the Paris Masters 1000 with the right motivation, but was eliminated by Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals at the end of a thrilling battle.
Medvedev ended 2025 as world number 13 and must make up 230 points from young English star Jack Draper if he wants to return to the Top 10 of the ATP rankings. The latter had to anticipate the end of his season due to an arm injury, which forced him to stop already at the end of the summer.
In a recent interview with 'Bolshe', Mansour Bahrami expressed his honest opinion on Daniil's future: Daniil Medvedev has been a lot better at the end of the year. Hes been number one in the world, hes a great player, and hes been there for the past 10 years. I think hell be back in the top 10 for sure, and I have no doubt about that.
