Joao Fonseca has finished the best season of his young career, but he has no intention of settling and has already started working hard ahead of 2026. The young Brazilian star has confirmed that he has an uncommon talent and expectations on him have grown further, considering that most experts and insiders consider him as the main alternative to the dominance of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

He is still far from the level of these two young champions and must improve from all points of view to become a true top player, but it is safe to say that he is on the right path and the people who follow him are taking the right steps to help him grow gradually.

The South American ace has lifted two trophies on the ATP tour this season at the Buenos Aires ATP 250 and Basel ATP 500 respectively as well as putting in some truly scintillating performances against opponents far more experienced than him (his performance against Russian star Andrey Rublev at the Australian Open earlier this year left everyone speechless).

Fonseca has changed status

Thanks to his brilliant results in recent months, Fonseca entered the Top 30 of the ATP rankings at the age of 19 and chose not to play the Next Gen ATP Finals in Saudi Arabia after lifting this trophy last year.

Interviewed by 'ESPN Brazil' a few days before his exhibition match with Carlitos Alcaraz in Miami, Joao revealed what the turning point of his season was: "I started to get a different consideration after beating Rublev in Australia. My family told me that everything had changed in Brazil and that my popularity had also increased significantly on social media. More people in Brazil approached tennis and started following it, I noticed it during the last holidays when I had a little more free time."

The Brazilian star will have to work harder than ever to better manage the pressure, as all opponents will play with the aim of beating him next year.
