Nick Kyrgios reveals he "felt something strong" during this year's Miami Masters match against Mackenzie McDonald as he is looking to return to action and play again on the Tour in 2026.
Kyrgios, who basically missed the entire 2023 and 2024 seasons due to knee and wrist surgeries, launched his comeback at the Brisbane International in the first week of 2025. Unfortunately for the former world No. 13, he battled wrist pain during the Australian swing and picked up back-to-back first-round exits at the Brisbane International and the Australian Open.
Following an early Australian Open exit, Kyrgios dropped a strong hint that he was thinking about retiring. The eight-time ATP champion then didn't play at all in February - returned to action in March - and retired against Botic van de Zandschulp in the Indian Wells first round before pulling off a 3-6 6-3 6-4 comeback win over McDonald in the Miami first round. For the 30-year-old, it was his first win on the main level since the 2022 US Open.

Kyrgios was beaten by Karen Khachanov in the Miami second round and hasn't played since due to wrist and knee issues.
Kyrgios: The McDonald clash was the last match that made me feel something strong
The last match that made me feel something strong was probably my match earlier this year against Mackenzie McDonald in Miami. Obviously I went through a lot of years being injured and coming back, and winning a match at Masters level was very special for me," the 2022 Wimbledon finalist told the UTS Tour.
In mid-December, Kyrgios is slated to compete at the World Tennis League - a mixed team tournament that will be held in Bengaluru, India, this year.
Kyrgios will then travel to the United Arab Emirates, where he is due to clash against four-time Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalenka in the Battle of the Sexes. The match is scheduled for December 28 in Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena.
