LeBron has had a fair few coaches in his basketball career, more than most, and he has spoken honestly about why the Lakers have bought in to JJ Redicks coaching style.
JJ Redicks entire basketball life has been the perfect example of the culture he is trying bring to Los Angeles, LeBron says.
You look at JJs career as a basketball player all the way from high school, you know, and hes been a winner his whole life, you know, and hes been taught the game the right way and its been no sugarcoating with the coaches thats put him in a position that he is in today, LeBron said on Mind the Game.
I had an opportunity to play for Coach K a couple of times, and Coach K, theres no sugarcoating. Hes gonna tell you exactly how we feel if youre not doing it right, but its gonna be in a very stern but loving way. Its not how he says it, its about how you accept it.
If you take what he says or how he says it personal, then youre gonna lose sight of the messaging. I think with JJ its kind of the same way.
He also highlighted Redicks clarity during games and practices, which is something James appreciates.
Hes right to the point, no sugarcoating it. Listen, this is how we want to play, this is how we want to play. And if Im seeing possessions or Im seeing things not up to our standard and what the coaching staff is putting out there, Im gonna show you my reaction, and its not to down you, its about you understanding what were trying to build long term, and I can respect that.
The Lakers are looking strong in the West, sitting at 2nd seed with a 13-4 record.
Since LeBrons season debut, the purple and gold are 3-0 and dont look be to slowing down anytime soon.
