While waiting for the Federation to officially announce Turin as the host of the 2026 Italian Open, Golf Club Milano is looking ahead. The Biassono (Monza) club has announced it will host the 2028 Italian Open. This year marks the Open's return to Monza Park, marking the centennial of the Brianza course.

The most prestigious sporting competition hasn't been held there since 2017, when a young Tyrell Hatton won.

In the four-year period leading up to 2028, national and international competitions are planned, as well as a special event dedicated to Gianni Albertini, president of Golf Club Milano and the Italian Golf Federation in the 1950s and 1960s, and a key figure in the development of Italian golf.

"Lombardy is the region with the highest number of registered golfers, approximately 23,000," noted Federica Picchi, Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Region with responsibility for Sport and Youth. "These results are also thanks to figures like Albertini, whose story deserves to be passed down."

The President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, also expressed satisfaction, emphasizing that golf "is already a mass phenomenon abroad, while in Italy it still retains an elitist perception." The hope is that the return of the Italian Openwill contribute to further openness of the movement and attract new players. And this is all about this course.

The rulesare relatively complicated compared to other sports because they are played outdoors, close to nature and animals. Respecting the rules is a fundamental element in the game of golf, which, almost always based on self-control and the free conscience of the players, often sees distorted results, sometimes consciously, but often unconsciously or through carelessness, due to the failure of many players to comply with the rules of the game. In addition to the rules, golf adheres to a code of conduct, known as etiquette, which generally means playing the game with due respect for the course and other players. Etiquette is an essential component of this sport.

The first documents attesting to the existence of rulesdate back to March 1744. The rules were produced for a competition to be held at a Scottish club, and contained 13 points in total.[3] Initially, writing the rules was the responsibility of each individual club and so they varied depending on where the game was played.
