WWE presented their second week of Gold Rush this week, and that included a big announcement from John Cena. This announcement will also go on to shape the future of NXT in a lot of ways.

The next WWE NXT Deadline event is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas. The Iron Survivor Challenge is coming back, and John Cena gets to pick the teams this year.

As part of his Last Time Is Now retirement tour, John Cena had a hand in NXT Deadline. He wont wrestle at the premium live event in a couple of weeks, but he did appear on NXT Gold Rush week 2, so he could announce the participants in the match.

John Cena announced that the mens field for NXT Deadline on December 6 will include JeVon Evans, TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater, Joe Hendry, Dion Lennox from DarkState, and Myles Borne. The final spot was decided after Trick Williams lost to Myles Borne in the main event.

Later on, John Cena also confirmed the womens lineup as Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, Kelani Jordan, Jordynne Grace, and Evolve Womens Champion Kendal Grey. The winners of those matches earn future shots at the NXT and NXT Womens Championships.

The Iron Survivor Challenge is a 25-minute match with staggered entries, point-based scoring, and 90-second penalties for losing a fall. The competitor with the most points becomes the number one contender.

We will have to see how the remainder of John Cenas retirement tour goes. He is currently the IC Champion, so that adds another layer of intrigue for the grand slam champions last ride.
