Holger Rune continues to show the world what resilience looks like. After the devastating Achilles tendon rapture he suffered in the semi-final of the Stockholm Open, the young Dane is deep into his rehabilitation journey.
Rune underwent surgery immediately after the injury, beginning a long and demanding road back to the ATP Tour. As we would expect, he is pushing through every stage of his recovery course with fierce determination.
A new video from Monte Carlos shows Holger entering another phase of his recovery - the transition from a full cast to a walking boot on his troubled left leg under a watchful eye of Marco Panichi.
The protective boot stabilizes the healing tendon while still allowing Holger to move enough to begin very light and adapted training. Some of his fans were not especially thrilled, highlighting the fact he could injure his right leg as well.

However, Rune will likely continue his one-leg drills, relying entirely on his right leg while keeping the left immobilized. It's a striking and moving footage of a top-tier athlete with reduced movement who refuses to step away from the court.
For Holger, his effort represents more than just a regular rehab. It's a clear message to everyone that he insists on fully recovery and returning at his best, driven by the belief he has yet to reach his peak and unwilling to let the setback define him.
The road back from an Achilles rupture is long and demanding, often stretching many months. We will unlikely see Holger back in action before the second part of the season.
However, his attitude has been clear from day one - full commitment, no excuses and an unwavering desire to fulfill his enormous potential in the upcoming years and challenge Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
