It's safe to say that Henrik Stenson has lived a full life over the past four years.

In March 2022, the Swede was deservedly named Captain of Team Europe, headed to Rome.

But shortly thereafter, Stenson announced he had signed with LIV Golf (he played his first tournament in Bedminster, the third event of the first season of the Saudi League), with the almost immediate consequence of being removed from his position as Captain.

Henrik Stenson, results

His removal soon led to the appointment of Luke Donald, who, after two triumphant runs, still doesn't officially have a successor for the Cup's defense at Adare Manor in 2027.

Henrik Stenson has been one of the Captains of the Majesticks GC Team since 2022, alongside Lee Westwood and Ian James Poulter, and by virtue of this position, he benefited from an exemption from the relegation mechanism, which at the end of each LIV Golf season designates the players who must earn the right to rejoin the League field the following season.

But this "lifeline" was eliminated (on the run, editor's note) for the current season, so Stenson, far from having had a memorable season (his best results were two top-20 finishes, in Adelaide and Korea), found himself in the group of "relegated" players.

The only statement he made on the matter was that he would have to "deal with the disappointment," without specifying his plans for next season.

But today we can say that the Swede, after paying the outstanding fines (approximately 3 million), has reapplied for membership on the DP World Tour. He resigned in 2023, a week after his Team Majesticks teammates, following the outcome of the arbitration between the DPWT and LIV players.

Stenson, as Team Captain, also owns a portion of the team's shares, but there is no news on this matter yet.

It is likely that in 2026, the 2018 Open Champion will also play on the Asian Tour, where, through the International Series and the Tour ranking, it is possible to regain a LIV Golf card.

What is certain is that, at this point, the spotlight will be on the DP World Tour, while we wait to see the winner of the 2013 and 2016 Race to Dubai return to the stage he last graced in 2023, when he took part in the Dubai Desert Classic where, with a splendid fourth and final lap, he finished in the top 10.
