Wyndham Clark was frustrated after not receiving a captains pick from Keegan Bradley. Although some expected the American golfer be selected by Bradley, the US captain had his own reasons for making such a decision. In an interview with the media, Clark pointed out that he was obviously frustrated because he could not be part of the team, but mostly because the course suited him.
However, Clark does not want to look negatively at everything that happened in the last few months, having an even stronger motive to come back and show golf fans that he is one of the best golfers.
Kind of a bummer that I didnt get picked in the sense that the golf course, especially the way it was set up, was tailor made for me, he said.
If not, oh well, Ive got to play my way into them. Just have a chip on my shoulder and say, All right, well, Im going to earn my way back in.
Its my favorite place to be. I love it, he continued, as quoted by the Golfing Gazette.
Its great to be at the top and ride momentum but theres something about grinding it out and people overlooking you and you stare them down and say, Im going to do this. When you do that its very rewarding.
Challenging season
The 31-year-old reflected on a challenging season that was filled with his misconduct and incidents, but reveals that it was mostly driven by frustration.
Clark openly admits that golf is a tough sport where huge expectations can sometimes weigh you down and create extra pressure.
In the intense desire for success, it is natural to sometimes cross the line and make moves that you later regret. Clark is somewhat disappointed that people don't understand why he reacted the way he did, but ultimately he realizes that it was a great lesson for him.
He wants to take positivity from this year, saying that he has matured a lot and is ready for the next season. Whether the 31-year-old will do big things next year remains to be seen.
