Justin Thomas informed fans via Instagram that he recently underwent a successful microdiscectomy. The minimally invasive surgery was the result of Thomas' hip pain issues that had been bothering him for months. The scan showed a disc problem that needed to be treated, and he had no hesitation in deciding to have the surgery.

Thomas informed fans via social media that he had been released from the hospital and expressed his gratitude to the doctors and everyone for their dedication and support.

"I had a successful microdiscectomy performed yesterday at Hospital for Special Surgery in N.Y.," Thomas wrote. "And have already been released from the hospital. Im so grateful to the doctors and staff there for all their hard work and support."

Thomas' season

Justin Thomas had a great season, winning the RBC Heritage, and also had some shining moments at tournaments like the Valspar Championship and the American Express, where he finished second. Playing in the Ryder Cup, his team didn't make a name for themselves, but Thomas was perhaps the most important figure on his team, excelling against Tommy Fleetwood.

It's still not known when Justin will be back on the golf course, but recovery is key for him. Thomas stressed that he's not sure when he'll be back and that he's not making any concrete plans for the future.

It is certain that he will miss the beginning of the year, but in consultation with the doctors he will make the right decision when he will return.

"As for 2026, I'm not sure what that looks like," he said. "I'm not circling any particular event, or have a specific event in mind for when I'm coming back. I'm definitely going to miss some events to start the year, but I'm going to completely listen to my body and let this disc fully heal so this is not an issue going forward."
