Ricky The Dragon Steamboat didnt come to fight on AEW Dynamitebut FTR nearly made him.
On the November 12, 2025 episode of AEW Dynamite from Greensboro, North Carolina, the WWE Hall of Famer made a special appearance to reflect on the citys legendary pro wrestling history. But what started as a heartwarming moment with Tony Schiavone quickly spiraled into disrespectand almost turned into a full-blown beatdown.
Steamboat was speaking about Greensboros role in his legacy when FTR and Stokely Hathaway interrupted. After some flattery, things escalated. Dax Harwood mentioned Steamboat being his trainer over a decade ago and claimed he had learned a lot. But Steamboat wasnt buying the act.
He cut Harwood off and said, I never taught you that your attitude would go into the toilet. The Dragon added that if he and Ric Flair had taken financial advice seriously, we wouldnt have to be here tonight.
Tensions hit a boiling point when Harwood told Steamboat to get out of his ring. Cash Wheeler even held the ropes open, expecting the legend to walk away. Steamboat played it cool, saying, Discretion is the better part of valor, and acknowledged he was the bigger man. But just as he started to leave, FTR yanked him backsetting up what looked like an ambush.
Thats when Brodido charged the ring to make the save, preventing the two-on-one assault and standing tall as the crowd roared for Steamboat. AEW nearly witnessed a wrestling legend getting laid out on live TV. Good thing someone was there to stop it.
Were you shocked FTR tried to go after Ricky Steamboat? Do you think Brodido and FTR are on a collision course next? Sound off in the comments below.
