The world number 2 is serious about winning this tournament for the second time in a row and is considered by all to be the huge favorite, because his game is further enhanced by the indoor conditions where he has been dominant in recent years.
The Italian champion had an amazing 2025 season despite the three-month ban that was inflicted on him by WADA, once again demonstrating an uncommon mental strength for a player of just 24 years old. Sinner convinced Cahill
Jannik has not lost before the final in a Grand Slam tournament since the 2024 edition of the Wimbledon Championships, when he was defeated by Russian star Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals also due to an illness.
Given his resilience and his ability to be competitive on all surfaces, several analysts and former players are convinced that the former world number 1 can achieve the 'Calendar Grand Slam' in the future. Recently, Italian tennis legend Adriano Panatta associated Darren Cahill's choice to remain in Sinner's team in 2026 with this goal.
"I have my opinion on Cahill's decision, who seemed destined to retire at the end of this season. I think he has chosen to stay by Jannik's side because he is convinced that the latter can complete the Grand Slam. This is an extremely difficult feat, considering that no one has managed to accomplish it since Rod Laver.
