Alexander Zverev has not had an easy season due to a number of different reasons, which have prevented him from playing his best tennis and forced him to face his inner demons. The current world number 3 has not achieved his goal of finally winning a Grand Slam title, indeed his performances in the most important tournaments on the calendar have been very disappointing after losing decisively to Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open final at the beginning of the year.
Although he still occupies third place in the ATP rankings, the German ace is a long way from Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz who are dominating men's tennis right now. The champion from Hamburg realized that he needed something different to be able to compete against these two young champions and tried to ask for help from a top coach like Toni Nadal during the summer, but the latter has other projects at this stage of his life and does not seem willing to follow him with the necessary continuity.

Zverev still dreams of a Grand Slam
Sascha who has lifted only one trophy this year on the red clay of the Munich ATP 250 reached the final in Vienna a few weeks ago playing exceptional tennis, but it was not enough for him to beat Sinner in the last act. The former world No.2 had a strong debut against Ben Shelton at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin and will face Jannik again in a highly anticipated match tomorrow. This tournament is particularly important for Alexander also in view of next season, which will be crucial for his future at the highest level.
During the latest episode of the 'Hardcourt' podcast, former ATP star Yevgeny Kafelnikov gave his honest opinion on Zverev's prospects: He has played in three Grand Slam finals. This barrier is very difficult to overcome, because you start to think that you have a monkey on your back.

But I, personally, cannot explain why this is happening. I have a bit of doubt that he will ever be able to win a Slam; its not given to someone.
