Laura Robson thinks staying healthy for the most part was the key to Emma Raducanu's ranking rise in 2025 and will be the key for a further ranking surge.

When the 2025 season started, Raducanu sat at No. 60 in the world. Today, the British tennis star is the 29th-ranked player in the world, which also makes her the highest-ranked British female tennis player. Before concluding her season, the 2021 US Open champion underlined that one of her main goals was to finish the year ranked inside the top-30 because she wanted to be a seeded player at the Australian Open.

Robson: Raducanu staying healthy was the key to her ranking rise

Raducanu was able to play week in, week out for the most part and lost a few close matches towards the end of the season. But overall, were ending 2025 just saying that she needs to be able to stay healthy and for the most part, shes done that. Thats definitely been a key for her to rise up the rankings because I think we always knew that the level was there, 2012 London Olympics mixed doubles silver medalist Robson told Sky Sports.

Raducanu appeared in a total of 50 matches this year and posted a 28-22 record. The Briton's best result of the year came at the WTA 500 tournament in Washington, where she made the semifinal. Also, it is worth mentioning that she made her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal at the Miami Open.

While the 22-year-old did a good job of staying healthy throughout 2025, she battled certain injuries and illnesses late in the year before announcing in mid-October that she was done for the year.

Recently, Raducanu signed up to represent Great Britain at the United Cup, which means that she will use the team event aspreparation for the Australian Open.

"But again, we just hope that she stays healthy, that's always the key," Robson added.

In the same interview, Robson also praised Raducanu's work with Rafael Nadal's former long-time coach Francisco Roig as a positive influence.
