Rory McIlroy has never hidden how ambitious and eager he is to succeed, and his results in Majors tournaments, as well as in other tournaments, speak for themselves. Although he failed to celebrate at the last Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the Northern Irish golfer looked great and finished in third place. Aron Rai ultimately managed to win this tournament in a dramatic play-off, but Rory shared only positive emotions in an interview with the media.
"Obviously ended up one short but great day of golf, and a great way to end the week, and also a great way to sort of go into next week in Dubai, as well." said McIlroy, as quoted by Belfast Telegraph.
Heading into the final day, the 36-year-old was as much as six shots behind Rai, aware of the difficult task ahead of him. However, he started the final day of the tournament furiously and played an impressive round. Rory is aware that this result gives him a great foundation for success before the tournament in Dubai.

"Yeah, I saw he really got it going at the start of the back nine there. I saw he was at like 20-under, and then I think he dropped back, and then he birdied the last," said McIlroy.

Speaking to the media, Rory particularly highlighted how much he enjoys playing on the Dubai golf course, which he has nothing but praise for. The week ahead also brings with it the chance to win another trophy and thus reaffirm how important a figure he is in the world of golf.
"Yeah, I really like that golf course," McIlroy said of the Earth Course.
"It really suits me. Probably suits me a little bit better than this course does this week, just in terms of what you need to do off the tee and into the greens.

Yeah, look, this was a great confidence-builder this week coming off a couple weeks off and hopefully just produce more of the same next Thursday and onwards."
