Elena Rybakina will have some important stuff to do in the upcoming days as the reigning WTA Finals champion reveals she is set to undergo various medical tests in Europe to understand why certain health issues keep hampering her.
Throughout 2024, Rybakina battled various injuries and illnesses. This year was no different as the Kazakh tennis star once again dealt with illnesses. While the world No. 5 managed to have a strong end to the season and make it all the way in Ningbo and the WTA Finals, her condition was all but ideal.
"Im going to spend a couple of days in Europe, different cities. Mostly for the health, some tests. Ive been having some issues that went away and are coming back. And then Ill see my family. Since I live in Dubai, there are good places to train. So I think Im going to stay there, in one place. Looking forward to a rest," the 26-year-old said after beating Aryna Sabalenka in the WTA Finals final.

Rybakina hopes she can continue with her fine form at the start of 2026
Rybakina didn't have a great Grand Slam year in 2025, failing to make it past the round-of-16 in any Major. However, the former world No. 3 still managed to win one big title in 2025 and she ended her season in positive spirits. Now, the 2022 Wimbledon champion hopes the confidence will follow her into the 2026 season and potentially lead to a big Australian Open run.
"I hope it does. I'd love to carry all the good momentum from this week into next season. This gives me extra motivation to keep improving, because we made great progress in such a tight schedule between tournaments," Rybakina noted when asked if she was hoping the WTA Finals triumph also helps her make a strong Australian Open run.
