World no. 2 Jannik Sinner is off to a winning start at the Paris Masters. The Italian faced Zizou Bergs in the second round and earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory in an hour and 27 minutes.

Jannik, who has a chance to take the ATP throne from Carlos Alcaraz, delivered another rock-solid performance and provided his 22nd consecutive indoor victory. The favorite performed well behind the first and second serve.

He faced no break points and kept the pressure on the Belgian. Bergs fought well in the opener but could not fall the pace of the four-time Major winner. He faced 11 break points and suffered three breaks to hit the exit door.

Sinner landed 19 winners and 22 unforced errors, leaving his rival on a 16-30 ratio. The favorite had the upper hand fro the baseline. Zizou outplayed Jannik in the most advanced exchanges but struggled in the shortest ones despite staying in touch in service winners.

The opening game lasted 12 minutes, and the Italian seized the fifth break chance for an early advantage. He missed two more opportunities on the return at 2-0, which did not affect the result.

Sinner served superbly and fired a service winner at 5-4 to wrap up the first part of the duel in 51 minutes. Jannik made a push on the return in the first game of the second set and converted the third break point with a volley winner at the net.

He provided two fine holds and broke at love at 3-1 after the rival's backhand error. The Italian served for the win at 5-2 and welcomed the Belgian's mistake to seal the deal in style and reach the last 16.
