Maya Joint's breakthrough 2025 season has gotten another chapter after the rising star became the first Australian teenager since Jelena Dokic in 2000 to enjoy a 30-win season on the WTA Tour.

On Monday, Joint - who celebrated her 19th birthday in April - kicked off her Hong Kong debut by impressively coming back from a set and a break down to beat Anastasija Sevastova 2-6 6-4 6-3. For the Australian, it was her 30th win on the main level this year.

The last Australian WTA teenager to do so was former world No. 4 Dokic, who was just 17 when she made the 2000 Wimbledon semifinal and registered 34 wins that season.

Joint won her first two WTA titles this year

The week before the French Open, Joint became a WTA champion after winning it all on the clay courts of Rabat. A month later, the Australian lifted her second WTA title after conquering the grass courts of Eastbourne. It is worth mentioning that she was also a semifinalist in Seoul before losing to Iga Swiatek.

Since last week, Joint - who currently enjoys a career-high ranking of No. 32 in the world - is also the highest-ranked Australian female tennis player. She replaced Daria Kasatkina.

"I mean I guess when you're finished with tennis, or when you get to No.1, I guess then you've kind of done it. Then you can celebrate. Any milestone in the top 100 is really special. Top 50, top 40, top 30, anything is just a crazy achievement. I think it's important to celebrate when you do it, but not let it take focus away from... like, you've not reached the goal yet," Joint explained on the Sit-Down podcast in May when asked about her future goals.
