Coco Gauff took notice of Ann Li's Guangzhou final win and congratulated fellow American tennis player on her big week at the Chinese WTA 250 event.
On Sunday, Li - who is currently ranked at No. 44 in the world - defeated Lulu Sun 7-6 (6) 6-2 to win her second WTA title. For the 25-year-old American, it was her first WTA title since 2021. After becoming a WTA champion in Tenerife 2021, she lost three consecutive finals (Merida 2024, Singapore 2025, Cleveland 2025).
After ending her three-match losing streak in her WTA finals, Li breathed a sigh of relief.
"A 2nd WTA title in the books. Third times a charm this year I guess. Thank you to the team @carlos_boluda @silvanaaramoss @jlhdezdavo grateful to have you guys by my side. Thank you for the support here in china, one more to go," the 25-year-old captioned her Instagram post following her Guangzhou triumph.

Gauff congratulates Li
In the comment section of the post, Gauff reacted by writing: "Congrats."

Li may have beaten Sun in straight sets, but the match could have gone a completely different way had she lost the first set. In the opener, the American missed out on two set points in the 10th game and two additional in the 12th game. In the tie-break, Sun made a strong start and led 3-0 early, but failed to close out the set.
After winning a very tight first set, the American dominated the rest of the match as she broke Sun three times to complete her win in two sets.
Meanwhile, Li didn't have much time to celebrate her Guangzhou win since she is already in Jiujiang, where she is due to meet Bai Zhuoxuan in the first round.
