During his appearance on Ready with Russo, the former WWE writer made a chilling prediction, warning that its only a matter of time before tragedy strikes. Russo recalled watching a clip from an indie show that left him stunned. Two wrestlers climbed a ladder over a setup covered in fluorescent light tubesall for the sake of one shocking crowd reaction.
He explained that the real danger wasnt just to the wrestlersbut to the fans who were seated only feet away from the chaos.
According to Russo, these reckless stunts are becoming more common because indie wrestlers are desperate to get a bigger reaction. Without compelling storylines or strong character work, many are resorting to more shockingand dangerousmoves to keep the crowds attention. He said even veteran wrestler and trainer Al Snow has been warning that the business is reaching a breaking point.
Russo believes the industry has lost its way, trading storytelling and psychology for senseless violence that puts everyone in harms way. The line between entertainment and danger has blurred, and according to him, its only a matter of time before something irreversible happens.
