Petra Kvitova took to Instagram to share some happy news three months after officially retiring from pro tennis as the former two-time Wimbledon champion is pregnant for the second time.

On New Year's Eve in 2023, Kvitova announced that she and her husband Jiri Vanek were expecting their first child. The former world No. 2 missed the entire 2024 season and welcomed her first child, a baby boy Petr, in July.

Following a 17-month maternity leave, Kvitova launched her post-pregnancy comeback in February of this year. Unfortunately for the 35-year-old, it was a pretty rough comeback since she went only 1-8 before deciding to retire.

Our little boy will soon become a big brother," the former Czech tennis star captioned her Instagram post.

Kvitova admitted that even she wondered why she decided to return to tennis

Being out of action for 17 months is never an ideal thing, especially if you were 34 like Kvitova when she was attempting to return. Before her first pregnancy, the Czech was still very competitive on the WTA Tour and even won Indian Wells and Berlin during the 2023 season. But this year, the former world No. 2 wasn't anywhere near her past level and winning only one of her nine matches tells you everything you need to know about her level.

Sometimes I'm really surprised by myself. Like, 'why I did it?' I would have regretted it if I didn't come back. I'm not putting any goals on myself, I'll never play as good as I was playing when I was winning tournaments. I want to enjoy myself playing tennis and it'll take time, the former two-time Wimbledon champion admitted earlier this year.

Kvitova's post-pregnancy comeback may not have gone well, but she still enjoyed an outstanding career after winning multiple Grand Slams and 31 titles overall.
