Jannik Sinner will compete in the quarter-final of the ATP 500 event in Vienna. The 2023 champion faced Flavio Cobolli in the second round and scored a 6-2, 7-6 victory in an hour and 47 minutes.

Jannik faced Flavio for the first time and moved over the top after another solid performance. Thus, the Italian extended his indoor streak and scored the 18th consecutive win under a roof.

The favorite outplayed his compatriot behind the second serve and faced no break points. Cobolli made a slow start before raising his level in the second set. He saved six of eight break points but failed to prolong the duel.

Sinner landed 14 winners and 29 unforced errors. Flavio stayed in touch in service winners and at the net but fell behind from the baseline. The former champion made a strong start and clinched a break in the third game after a forced error.

Flavio missed a forehand in the fifth game and lost serve again to fall 4-1 behind. Jannik served for the opener at 5-2 and seized the fourth set point after the rival's forehand error to wrap up the first part of the duel in 45 minutes.

Cobolli served well early in the second set and denied a break point at 2-2 to remain on the positive side. He faced the ultimate test at 5-5 and saved three break points to reach a tie break.

Sinner fired a powerful forehand in the fourth point for 3-1 before pulling the mini-break back in the sixth point. Flavio sprayed a double fault at 3-4, and Jannik moved over the top with a powerful serve at 6-4.
