Novak Djokovic's 2025 season has shown that the Serbian legend is still competitive at the highest level and can shine especially in Grand Slam tournaments, having reached at least the semifinals in the four Majors this year, but it will be very hard for him to add further important titles to his huge palmars due to the presence of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

After the US Open in which he was defeated by Carlitos in the semifinals the former world number 1 returned to action at the Shanghai Masters 1000, where he had a huge chance to win his 101st career title due to a series of unpredictable events. The 22-year-old Spaniard decided not to participate in the penultimate Masters 1000 of the season due to an ankle injury suffered in Tokyo, instead the Italian ace had to retire in the third round due to cramps.

Nole's run in China however stopped against the surprising Monegasque Valentin Vacherot in the semifinals, also due to some physical problems that prevented the 38-year-old from Belgrade from performing at his best. The 24-time Grand Slam champion was also present at the prestigious exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia last week, where he lost to Sinner in the semifinals before announcing his forfeit at the Paris Masters 1000 scheduled for next week.

Nole is recovering

Djokovic will participate in the Athens ATP 250 which will take place the week before the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, to which he qualified as number 3 in the ATP Race.

In a recent interview, his brother Djordje assured that Novak is recovering well from his physical problems and will certainly be in action in Greece, while his presence at the ATP Finals the following week still remains shrouded in mystery.

The former world number 1 triumphed in Turin in the 2022 and 2023 editions, while he skipped this event last year ending his season early. The other players are eagerly awaiting Nole's decision on the matter.
