There may not be a single record in the Guinness Book of World Records that is considered the weirdest. There are a few standouts, and Darby Allin wanted to be on that list. However, he will have to wait a bit longer and try again if he wants to make it in that book.
Darby Allin made climbing Mount Everest a huge item on his bucket list. He finally made it happen, and now he is relishing in all the attention that has brought him. In fact, he spent a majority of his Ariel Helwani Show interview discussing the subject.
It turns out that Darby Allin did a lot more than just achieving something that nobody else in the AEW locker room has done before. He also pulled off a certain acrobatic move higher than anyone else in existence. That being said, Guinness Book of World Records will not take it.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Guinness Book of World Records will not recognize Darby Allin as the person who performed a backflip at the highest altitude. Allin executed the backflip at the summit of Mount Everest, which stands at 29,032 feet. This surpasses the previously known record of 21,000 feet, but Guinness needs to know about records. Due to red tape, Darby isnt getting the record.
Guinness requires participants to coordinate with them in advance, so despite the altitude, the record will not be listed. Allin addressed the situation by saying, They dont count it, because youve got to get with them first before you do something. Im just like, dude, in my heart, I know I hold the world record.
We will have to see if Darby Allin comes up with another way to get into the Guinness Book of World Records. He is still at his daredevil antics, so its anyones guess what he will try next.
