Leylah Fernandez is heating up with her form once again as the fourth-seeded Canadian ousted world No. 96 Dalma Galfi 6-1 6-4 to reach the quarterfinal of the WTA 250 tournament in Osaka.
Right out the gate, the Canadian was all over Galfi after storming through the opening five games of the match and opening a 5-0 lead. In the sixth game, the No. 4 seed had a chance to complete a bagel but missed out on her first set point. However, she had no issues closing out the set on her serve in the following game.
After not standing a chance in the first set, Galfi raised her level and stood tied to four games apiece through eight games played in the second set. But then, the No. 4 seed claimed a key break in the ninth game before serving out for the match in the following game.

It was the first meeting between Fernandez and Galfi. In the Osaka quarterfinal, the Canadian tennis star plays against Rebecca Sramkova, who beat her in Monterrey two months ago.
Fernandez appears to be rediscovering her form
In late July, the Canadian won her first title of the year at the WTA 500 tournament in Washington. Prior to coming to Osaka, the world No. 27 had only once won back-to-back matches at a tournament since Washington.
But so far in Osaka, the 23-year-old has looked well as she also routed Hailey Baptiste 6-2 7-5 in the first round.
It remains to be seen if Fernandez can continue with her resurgence in Osaka and possibly lift her second title of the year.
